-‘பார்வை’ கட்டைக்கூத்து நாடகம் 19ஆம் நுற்றாண்டில் ‘லா பயடெரே’ (La Bayadère) என்ற பாலே (மேற்கத்திய கிளாசிக்கல் நாட்டிய நாடக நிகழ்வு), டச்சு வியாபாரியான ஜேக்கப் ஹாஃப்னர் 1808இல் வெளியிட்ட பயண நூல் ஆகியவற்றை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு உருவானது. லா பயடெரே 1877இல் ரஷ்யாவின் செயின்ட் பீட்டர்ஸ்பர்க்கில் அரங்கேற்றப்ப்ட்டது. அதே ஆண்டில் தென் இந்தியாவில் மாபெரும் பஞ்சம் ஏற்பட்டது. அந்தப் பேரழிவின் மீது இக்கூத்து தன் பார்வையைச் செலுத்துகிறது.
